Whether for pleasure or for challenge, taking to the sea alone offers freedom and a unique connection with the ocean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even so, before you set off, careful preparation is essential. It will enable you to sail with complete peace of mind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Preparation includes checking your equipment (safety, electronics, etc.), planning meals and refuelling, and getting to know heavy traffic areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But you'll also need to be flexible when it comes to your diary! Choose a <strong>favourable weather window <\/strong>and plan your route in detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Planning and navigation electronics for solo sailing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some waters are heavily used by commercial vessels, fishermen and pleasure craft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To sail safely, it is crucial to remain vigilant and to <strong>plan short but effective rest periods<\/strong>. Because yes, when you're on your own, more than anything else, managing rest is a major challenge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Naps of 20 minutes can be very effective in maintaining your energy levels. Plan strategic rest periods and use alarms to wake you up in good time. Be vigilant, especially in high-traffic areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Modern navigation tools are essential <\/strong>for a successful crossing. AIS, radar and VHF communication systems are your best allies for keeping abreast of the movements of other vessels and for communicating if necessary. Familiarise yourself with these tools before setting off and make sure they are working properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Obviously, as you'll be on your own, you'll need a good self-inflating armband with a beacon.
